SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION

Applicants must meet all of the following criteria:

 

Be a citizen and a resident of the United States of America for at least one year, and be between the ages of 17-23 for first time applicants.

Be enrolled at, or accepted into, a full time program of study at an American undergraduate (two years towards a four year degree), bachelor school of higher learning (i.e. College, University) for the 2024 – 2025 academic year. Annual cost of tuition, room and board must be provided.

Have at least twenty five percent (25%) Norwegian ancestry. Please note: In exceptional circumstances, the Norwegian ancestry requirement may be waived if an applicant shows a significant Norwegian affiliation. The decision as to whether or not this requirement will be waived is solely up to the discretion of the Norwegian Children’s Home Association of Greater New York, Inc.’s Grant Committee.

I) The application submittal requires an actual notarized application with transcripts and all supporting documents sent via mail.

II) Note: Applications must be submitted with: (ONLY 2024-2025 NEW APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED. )

III) AN OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT WITH SEAL OF THE APPLICANT’S GRADES FROM THE SCHOOL, HE/SHE IS CURRENTLY ATTENDING WITH AT LEAST TWELVE CREDITS. High School graduates need to send transcripts from High School
● A photo of applicant.
● A current word essay with minimum of 250 words
● List of scholarship awards received
● Your correct home address is a must to where grants will be sent in July/August.
● If you have requested your school to send us transcript, follow up that they did.

IV) Completed applications and ALL supporting documents must be postmarked by April 15. DO NOT SEND BY FED EX. PARENT SIGNATURES ONLY NEEDED FOR FIRST TIME APPLICANTS. ALL APPLICATIONS MUST BE SIGNED BY APPLICANTS AND WITH AN OFFICIAL NOTARY SEAL

ALL requested information and documentation MUST be submitted in order for the application to be processed – “N/A” (not applicable) if necessary. The Norwegian Children’s Home Association of New York, Inc. and its Grant Committee reserves the right to reject any grant application which does not include all requested information and documentation.

IV) Applicants may be required to be interviewed by the Awards Committee at its Brooklyn, NY office, and /or submit a video tape of themselves answering designated questions.

V) Award notification will be sent by August.

VI) The Norwegian Children’s Home Association of NY, Inc. and its Grant Committee reserves the right to amend these guidelines at any time.
