OUR WORK

Goals & Mission

The goal of the Scholarship Fund has always been, and will continue to be, to aid the next generation. To give opportunity that may have been unfortunately taken away, and to provide hope for a better tomorrow by investing in children and their future.

As the then Prime Minister, Einar Gerhardsen, of Norway said in a letter of thanks to the Association, “What is done today is also done for the future”. And not just our future, but our children’s future, the future of our community and our world.

Students have gone on to become engineers, nurses, military officers, and many things in between, and the Association could not be more proud.

Origins of The Scholarship:

In 1948, the Sons of Norway Scholarship Fund Committee (no current affiliation) for the Norwegian Children’s Home came into being with the main purpose of: preparing children for a better future, so that they may have the opportunity for a happier and more useful way of life in their adulthood. They aimed to provide advanced education for the children, whether that be at colleges and universities, or a high level of vocational training. The only qualifications required of the students were that they:

  1. Graduate from high school.
  2. Show a willingness and aptitude for the career of their choosing.
  3. Be worthy and needy.

A Ladder For Success

Together, we can give students a chance to impact their communities for good.
